The Museum of Fine Arts in Carcassonne once again welcomes the photographer Philippe Shangti for an exhibition titled “The Museum Sets the Table.” This exhibition will be held from June 15 to September 29, 2024, and will present a selection of works by several modern and contemporary artists, centered on the theme of meals.
The exhibition will feature around twenty works by Philippe Shangti under the theme “Luxury Dinner.” Some of these pieces are from his past collections, such as “Luxury Fifth Dinner,” while others are completely new and revealed for the first time on this occasion. These works explore the concepts of consumerism and decadence through sumptuous and sometimes surreal dinner scenes. These photographs, among the most emblematic of his career like the “Luxury Shangti World Dinner,” have captivated collectors worldwide, as well as renowned personalities and international brands, such as David Guetta and Playboy Magazine.
A special room will be dedicated to the photographer, named The Enigma Room, where the work “Luxury Da Vinci Dinner” will be exhibited. This photograph pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper and the great Renaissance painters. This work hides a code that needs to be deciphered to open a chest containing a bronze medallion created by the artist. A fun treasure hunt for visitors entering this room.
Another completely new work by the artist will be publicly exhibited for the first time, Philippe Shangti’s Mona Lisa named “Mona Lisa Released.” This original photographic creation stands out for its elegant tribute to Leonardo da Vinci’s famous Mona Lisa. The photographer Philippe Shangti, in a bold and creative gesture, offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the master’s iconic work.
Far from any pretension to rival the great masters of the Renaissance, this photograph reflects a deep appreciation and a desire to extend their legacy. By following in Leonardo da Vinci’s footsteps, Shangti celebrates the timeless genius of the artist and explores themes of artistic heritage and perpetual influence.
This unique piece, printed on museum-certified paper with a hologram, is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the back, ensuring its authenticity. The print is beautifully framed in a wood and gold frame dating from the 17th century, a rare piece authenticated by the prestigious Montanari gallery in Paris.
