The artist Philippe Shangti donated 2 black and white multiple edition prints of his iconic works “No Cocaïne Here Deluxe” (2013) and “Luxury Dinner” (2015) to the association Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque.
This association raises funds to operate on children with heart diseases.
The auction, led by auctioneer Beaussant-Lefèvre & Associés and organized by the Grand Prix Photo, took place on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Jean-Despas hall in Saint-Tropez, and was also broadcast live on Drouot.com. Several important personalities, such as Mrs. Simone Dray, the patron of the sale, and Mr. Francis Dagnan, owner of Studio Harcourt and Photo magazine, were present. The auction raised nearly €60,000 through the sale of 33 lots, which is equivalent to 5 heart surgeries.
The lithographic paper prints donated by the artist, in small formats of 70 x 50 cm and 30 x 40 cm, raised €4,000.
The artist Philippe Shangti, himself having undergone heart surgery several times, was very sensitive to this cause and has already informed the organizing committee that he will participate again in this charity auction at the next edition.
